I often get asked what is hot for kids. This is so variable based on parents obviously, time and interest but in my experience even if mom doesn’t like dressing herself she quite often will get into decking out her kids. Really everything that is trending for adults is also trending for kids. For simplicity I will list a few of the kid trends and my favourite pieces from each.
For the mini “hipster” Mini Boden.
For the “prepster” from Tommy Hilfiger.
Ralph Lauren shirt dress for girls.
Buffalo Plaid one from the Gap.
Plaid: Plaid is hot for fall for everyone, and how can you not love it for you little mini’s?
Animal print super cute girls pullover sweatshirt by Candy Hearts Kids.
Skinny Jeans from Old Navy.
Pools side memories in this fun kids bikini from Billabong.
Add a little roar with these socks from Happy Feet.
These Chucks from Converse.
Animal Print: Obviously huge for kids and tonnes of fun.
Monsters & Skulls: Always and forever a boy Favourite.
Converse: Always in style for boys and girls.
Dr. Martins…that’s right, they are back.
Hunter Rainboots, as stylish as they are warm and dry.
Yosi Samara for the win for the little girls. Most comfortable flat ever.
Top Shoes trending right now : Converse, Dr. Martins, Van’s, Birks, Yosi Samara and New Balance.
Online Shopping for kids: Kitson Kids, Nordstrom and for those of you looking for a little more designer gear for your little darling Childs Play and AlexandAlexa are tough on the budget but fantastic.
One of my favourite pieces to wear in the fall are my leather jackets. Simple, easy and add instant style to any pair of jeans and tee. Simply a wardrobe staple that every woman should own. A leather jacket is one of the best investments you will make in your wardrobe so make sure and buy the highest quality you can. Here are a few of my very favourites for this fall. Get the quilted Anine Bing leather Jacket here.
I love this SELENGOR BIKER leather jacket from Muubaa. Available at Revolve Clothing. It has a slightly shorter cut, and is nicely tailored around the waist.
The light grey, slightly distressed look of this Jova Leather Jacket by Iro, is a great addition to your wardrobe and a step away from the ordinary if you already have a leather jacket in black. I love the colour of this jacket and the looser cut, if you like it as well you can find it here.
Bright leather will add a pop of edge to any wardrobe. This jacket can be dressed up for a night out with skinny jeans and heels or down to run errands with your converse. The Doma moto jacket has curved seams which I thought was kind of cool as well. The attention is always in the details. Find this jacket at Shopbop.
How deadly is this Rumpled leather blazer from Free People. Love it!
And of course no list would be complete without the Mackage Kenya Jacket from Aritzia. This jacket is made exclusively for them, it has a fantastic cut, clean lines and it really is a minimalist version of a classic moto jacket. I have had this one for years, I often recommend it to my clients because of the fit and the price point.
Last week I had the opportunity to talk shop with Lisa Tant, the Vice President of Holt Renfrew Exclusive Services. Lisa has been an integral part of the fashion industry for many years including a position of Editor-In-Chief at Flare magazine for 9 years.
It is a pleasure to meet with a woman in fashion that lifts up women and encourages them to have fun and be confident with what they wear.
Getting ready for work in the morning is such a pain when it is 1000 degrees outside. There is still a way to look fashionable though and not have to worry about sweat stains! Plus, you still want to look professional but be able to breezy and cool. Obviously you want to take your office and workplace into consideration. For example, you don’t want to wear a sleeveless blouse if it isn’t in your office’s dresscode. Stay away from anything with too heavy of a fabric, and avoid layers. Anything with a light cotton is perfect. If you have to wear silk, go for sleeveless. Here is a look at some of my favourite items for those blistering days!
Equipment Sleeveless blouse with a pop of colour! Get it here!
An easy breezy top perfect to pair with trousers or a skirt! Get it here!
A loose fitting dress is perfect and comfortable. Get it here!
The last thing you want is a skirt you are going to have to adjust all day. Try this one. Available here!
A wrap dress is a perfect outfit to go from day to night. Available here!
A light cotton is a perfect way to avoid stains and keep you cool in the office. Available here!
A fun trouser keeps things fun and flirty when choosing a professional look. Available here!
I always love the street style at New York Fashion Week. This year I have to admit the styles were amazing, or at least I thought so. I loved most of what I saw. If you didn’t know I am the queen of black and white, and I love a good jumpsuit and this was two of the big street style trends that we saw this year.
70′s Style: Boho Chic, fringe and jumpsuits everywhere. 70′s were a promanant thread in most of the street styles. Right up my ally.
Men’s Wear: Lots of big blazers and tuxedo like blazers over feminine ruffled dresses. I like it over a dress, the full men’s wear look I thing can be a bit much but these girls managed to pull it off.
Monochromatic Colour Scheme: Solid colour everywhere, solid black, brown and blue reigned supreme.
Black and White: The look of the week for sure and my all time favourite colours of course.
Leather Shorts & Chanel: Personal favorite look, how can you go wrong in a casual cool way like this. Love it.
