The Midi Skirt
June 18, 2014Fashion likes to play with different skirt lengths, this year everyone is wearing the midi because it’s chic, polite yet unapologetically cool when worn with individual flair. The midi skirt’s has wide acceptance among leggy models and designers, but it still remains on the “never-would-I-ever” list for many women. While I understand the combination of bisecting your calves and voluminous fabric can seem like a two-part recipe for disaster, I have a few tips to pulling it off.
Since the skirt covers up so much leg, pairing it with a form-fitting or skin-baring tank top makes the most sense. For those looking to try crop tops, the high-waisted midi is your perfect chance to try them without looking sleazy.
Unless you have model-like height, the midi skirt requires specific footwear. To start, you absolutely must wear a heeled shoe—no exceptions. Trust me: for this occasion, flats are not your friend. Secondly, your shoe of choice should ideally expose the top of the foot to lengthen the appearance of your leg; a very thin strappy sandal or classic pump is ideal. In this case I did not do that, but my shoe is nude and not intrusive.
If your skirt is full and colourful like mine keep your accessories neural or you are going to look like you stepped out of the tickle trunk in the attic.
Have a little fun, life is meant for living. Find a skirt you love, remember the secrets to making it look good and get out there.
Happy Shopping!
