Christmas Outfits

Posted on by Style By Kim xo

Christmas is a big day for many of us. The kids are pumped to see what Santa has left, parents are thrilled to see the looks on their kids’ faces, family members are ready to welcome large groups for meals and people are heading off to church. There’s a lot to do in one day, and the activities vary in degree of formality, so the question is: What to wear?

There’s pajamas for drinking cocoa and opening presents, then jeans for putting together toys or trying out your new rollarblades, a respectful outfit for going to church and then something with a stretchy waist for a big Christmas dinner. Rather than worry about four different outfits, how about just wearing one?

Here are a few ideas, plus some shoppable looks, guaranteed to meet all your holiday needs.

BCBG Black Dress

A-Line Dress: Add tights and a cardigan and you are good to sit on the floor and open gifts, go to church and head to dinner all in one outfit.  A few examples from Chicwish,  Eli Tahari and BCBG

Wide Leg Pants

Black Pants:  Black pants are always classy.  Try to go with a black pant that is a bit different.  I love the leather pants from Anine Bing, add  silk top with theses and you are classy all day. A pair of crop pants are cute.  Pair them with booties and a shorter sweater. I like theses ones from Sam and Lavi.  A wide leg pair like the ones above are also very cute, wear them with a fitted dressy plain long sleeve teeshirt in grey or black or a silk tank tucked in.  Find these at Nordstrom.

Wrap Dress: A jersey wrap dress is comfortable and flattering.  It hides your turkey gut and looks classy. A few favourites from DVF,  Tart Collections and this fantastic one from Line and Dot.

Hardtail leopard leggings

Cool Leggings : Leggings are very trendy right now, there are all sorts.  Hardtail leopard one are one of my favourite right now.  Pair them with a cute pair of black booties and a longer black sweater and you will be very comfortable and chic at the same time. I also love these pleather leggings from Revolve.   Just remember when you wear leggings your top should cover your rear and be a bit longer and looser, you don’t want to wear all tight or you are going to look like you are heading on stage for a Cirque du Soleil act.
