How to Wear Overalls

Posted on by Style By Kim xo

I know that some of you might look at these pictures and think overalls?  Aren’t they for the farm?  Here’s the thing, overall’s are so comfortable and they are making a huge comeback for spring. Designers sent a plethora of denim duds down the spring runways, remixed with cool fabrics, colors, and silhouettes. While the newest versions are much more chic than their ’90s predecessors, they still remain true to their tomboyish, ultra-comfortable roots.

Afraid of looking more like a farmer than a fashionista? The key to dressing with overalls is making sure you look like you put effort and thought into your look.  If you are wearing them out at night, I recommend wearing a silk tank underneath, add heels and a clutch.  For mine, I paired it with a silk tank, a Channel clutch and a boyfriend blazer from Aritzia. Casually I threw on a white tee, my Anine Bing boots and used a more casual bag from Tylie Malibu.  They would also look great with any ballet flats or converse.

Of course the question I hear is what age is this look for? As with any look, it is how you accessorize and compliment your style. If you are in your 30’s or 40’s you can still wear this look, just make it more mature by adding a blazer.  If you are in your 20’s or younger go for a crop top underneath the overalls add some cool leopard slip on runners or converse.  Don’t make it about your age, make it about personalizing your look to who you are!
