Met Gala 2014
May 7, 2014The Met Gala happend the other night in New York. I love the Met Gala because I love to see people play with a theme. I just want to stress that the Met Gala is not a typical red carpet. Some people see the gowns and outfits and seriously question the sanity of their favourite actress or celebrity. The point of the Met Gala is to dress up to a theme and play with a costume. This year, the theme was white tie. I love this theme. It reminds me of prom and the romanticism of cinderella. Some did this theme really well. Some did it with no imagination. And some just look atrocious. Let’s discuss!
Sarah Jessica Parker, who was the chair of the event, pulled off the theme so well in this Oscar De La Renta gown. The gloves! The hair! The make up! Perfect.
Suki Waterhouse looking stunning.
One of the couples everyone was looking forward to seeing, David and Victoria Beckham looking polished and on theme, but booooooring. She’s a fashion designer. She should be able to play a little bit, no?
We might be fighting over this but this is so WRONG. One of the most daring and fun fashionistas of the red carpet season, Lupita N’yongo in Prada ends up looking like Jane of the Jungle. How is this white tie? There is a theme for a reason, people!
Ugh. I love Alexa Chung. I have a crush on Alexa Chung. So it kills me to say that Alexa Chung looks like her favourite sock got all twisted in the laundry machine in this Nina Ricci dress.
Did Michelle Williams think she was going to a 70s party? I’m confused why Louis Vuitton thought it was a good idea to give HER this dress?
Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively go for old school glam in Gucci. Love it. They look like Cinderella and Prince Charming!
Hands down my best dressed was Cara Delivigne. She played with the theme in this Stella McCartney outfit for sure taking on a masculine spin. I love it!
CLAIRE DANES YOU HAVE BEEN FAMOUS FOR SO LONG. WHY WOULD YOU WEAR SATIN ON THE RED CARPET?!
I love that Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield weren’t matchy matchy but still looked like they went well together. Those colours, Emma! This girl can take risks and I love it.
This is Gisele and Tom Brady’s stomping grounds, and they always kill it.
Who invited Shailene Woodley?
I get super uncomfortable looking at photos of these two. Why does he look like he can’t stand up without the cane? And why does she look like she’s constantly breathing in slash surprised?
And last but not least. Best couple of the night. Queen Beyonce and HOVA in Givenchy. They can do no wrong.
