Oscars 2014 Style

Posted on by Style By Kim xo

Even though the Academy Awards are mainly about the best movies of the year, we all know that for the most part the next day people are talking about what people were wearing what. Who was the Best Dressed? Who was the Worst? So I compiled a list of my favourites. Who was your best? Your Worst?

I’m going to start with my worst, which was Anna Kendrick. The poor girl is so cute, but she looks like she’s going to her office Christmas Party. Girl needs a new styling team.

Kerry Washington has been killing it with her maternity style, but this choice is boring and wrinkly.

Penelope Cruz. Usually she does so well. Maybe she was unsure because she just had a baby and doesn’t have her body back yet?  But it is like a weird wrap and I’m not into it.

For Best Maternity Style it is definitely Elsa Pataky in Elie Saab. I love the colour, I love the fit. She wins.

I’m not entirely sure what Kate Hudson was promoting but I can’t complain or question it too much because the girl brought it to the red carpet. I’m usually a fan of anyone with a cape, but a removable cape was genius. She was able to change the look on the red carpet, to when she presented, and then back again for the parties after. She’s wearing Versace.

I’m not usually a fan of what Jennifer Garner wears, on or off the red carpet. Yet, she killed it this year in a vintage inspired Oscar De La Renta. And I want to print out a picture of her hair and bring it to my stylist. I’m surprised.

Sandra Bullock played it safe but beautiful in McQueen. I loved the navy look.

Jennifer Lawrence has a contract with Christian Dior so it wasn’t a surprise that she showed up wearing Dior, but I was surprised that she went for a mature look and less princess-y than what she’s been doing. I loved the backwards necklace for this neckline. Definitely going to try that myself.

Cate Blanchett went for a very romantic choice in Armani Privé. I loved it.

Everyone pretty much played it safe except for Chrissy Tiegen who went for something different in Monique Lhuillier.

Best Dressed for Women was definitely Lupita Nyuongo. That blue is so dreamy, and the fit! Prada has never been worn before for a winning woman, did you know that? The headband was too cute too! I love her, and her speech made me cry!

Like I said, I’m a sucker for a cape. Best Dressed couple goes to winner Matthew McConaughey and his wife Camilla Alves in Gabriela Cadena.

Jared Leto was hands down best dressed for guys. Somehow he was able to look like a rockstar and a serious actor. I love that he mixed cream and white with a red bow tie. It was the perfect combination!

And that’s it. Everyone played it pretty safe this year, with no real shockers or atrocities. The outfit everyone is talking about this morning? Pharell’s bermuda shorts.

Who was your favourite?
