The Best Fashion Books to Gift

One of my favourite gifts to receive this time of year is a great fashion coffee table book. Not only do I love to curl up on the couch with a nice cup of tea and flip through the pages of my inspirations, they are also great conversation starters! So this year add to your girlfriends coffee table by gifting her a colourful and beautiful fashion book. Here are some of my favourites this season.

It by Alexa Chung

It by Alexa Chung is the one I am the most excited about. I love Alexa’s style, from her laid back attitude, her play with masculine shapes, down to her cropped haircut. In her book she shares photos and passages of her inspiration that you almost feel her coolness as you flip through the pages.

Alexander McQueen Working Process: Nick Waplington

Working Process follows Alexander’s McQueen’s 2009 Fall/Winter collection. This would actually be the last collection done by McQueen himself before his tragic passing. Even though I love the work that the label continues to do, this book makes me nostalgic for collections passed. This is perfect for someone who loves a behind the scenes look!

The World According to Karl

If anyone has attempted to understand Karl Lagerfield, they would know that he is impossible to understand. What I do know about him is that he has this insane ability to re invent some of the world’s oldest fashion houses – I.E. Chanel. He also is one of the hardest working people in the fashion industry. Take a look inside his life with this one.

The Fashion Book

The Fashion Book is the encyclopedia for anyone with an interest in fashion. This is the perfect gift for the girlfriend, daughter, or niece who loves shopping, clothes, and celebrity style.

Bad Girls Go Everywhere the Life of Helen Gurley Brown
Helen Gurley Brown was the editor of Cosmopolitan and without her it would be safe to say we wouldn’t have had Sex and the City or Girls. She was one of the first women in the New York magazine scene to fight for women to lead more interesting lives. She was a believer in the freedom of choice for women which included everything from fashion to politics. She changed the modern views on women. This is an important read for any woman not just those of the fashion minded.

Grace: A Memoir

My favourite book on my coffee table and one of my favourite reads, Grace: A Memoir. The story behind the creative juice at Vogue. Although much of her work is done behind the scenes, she makes some of the most powerful choices in the fashion industry.

What are your favourites?
