I love the classics, but I love also sprinkling in a few of the trends. It's really fun and you feel instantly updated. The great thing about shoes is that you can have a monochromatic or a basic outfit on, and then you put on a cool pair of shoes and you've instantly elevated your style game.Read more....
So heading into one of my favorite styles of shoes this year for 2020. It was the combat boot or the lug sole, which basically means heavy sold boot. So I am a little bit edgy. I love that style. I really. This year I'm getting into like the lace-up boot. I'm loving it. You're seeing it everywhere all over the place with jeans, with dresses. Something that is absolutely a favorite of mine. I bought a new pair of combat boots this year. I've worn them literally nonstop. So there are trend that came in earlier. They're going to stick around for spring. Again, you'll see these heavy sold boots, lace up, whatever you want or Chelsea style. You'll see them worn with long a line dresses and skirts, mar Bohemian style, also structured with skinny jeans and a blazer and oversized blazer. Fantastic food to add in your wardrobe. Very practical, super comfortable, and very on trend.
Keeping in line here. We'll move kind of from the winter into the spring. The modern loafer.
So loafers have been around for forever. Okay. Since the beginning of shoe time. But they really have a modern take on them this year. There's a lot of like logo loafers, loafers with square toes, loafers with heels, loafers with buckles, shiny flat. There's so many different variations, but they really got a cool upgrade this spring, and I think that they're very easy to wear. You can pair them with any of your pants. You can pair them with your permuted shorts, you can pair them with dresses, skirts. You can throw them on with literally everything. But of course, a classic loafer with a blazer, a pair of jeans, and a nice silk tank top, you're good to go for any occasion.
For those of you who are a little more casual there, not as preppy, and you're like, well, loafers are not really for me. The futuristic sneakers are still here. So kind of like those big dad sneakers. Well, there's benefit of a modification on them. So that's kind of brought that dad zone down a little bit, so they're a little more easy to wear for everyone, but sort of a futuristic look. I actually just bought a pair of Nike's, you'll see a picture of me in those here. So kind of those bright colors, a little more sporty, a little dad like, but not as extreme as they were before. Fantastic to throw on with your workout leggings, a Jean jacket, a tee shirt, or you can dress them up if you're really edgy and you're going to go for that city look. A lot of girls in the city, cause they have to go from the subway to their work. They're wearing them with a long dresses, their skirts. It is actually a style and they look great. The futuristic sneaker, they're fun, they're bright, they're chunky, and they're very easy to wear.
From the casual sneaker into those of you who like dressy shoes, the lace up heal. So this could be a, like an actual close toed heel or it could be an open toed heal. It's the laces going around the legs. I'm actually, this is a personal favorite of mine. I have a few pairs like this that I really love. Um, I especially love this in a nude. If you're going to use a lace up shoe, you want to be a little bit careful that you're not chopping up your leg. So Elisa Shum, she looks really good with pants or jeans because you're bringing them the ham of the jeans right at the top of the laces or along skirt, that kind of goes to the top of it as well. I don't love it with a pair of shorts unless it's nude, because you're really going to chunk your leg. But the lace up shoes, they're out there. Find a pair that worked for you.
Sticking with the open toed heels, the strappy colorful heels are in. So I've seen so many in like electric blue and orange and like neon colors. It's actually really, really pretty. So if you're wearing like an all white dress, a strappy open-toed really bright colored sandal like a blue might look really good. If you'd like to be a little more classic, of course, maybe you're going to go with a nude color. But if you're into experimental and trying out some of the trends, the strappy colored shoes, they're all there for you.
If you're looking for just a more casual tape on a pair of shoes, let's say you want to stick to the classics, you want a little bit of a difference. The slanted heel is really in this year for 2020. I saw it on the runways and I'm seeing it everywhere and it's actually just a slight modification. I think it looks really cool. It's easy to wear and you can pick whatever color you want. So check out the slanted heel, try them on and make sure they're comfortable for you. But I think it's a really cool look that can add to any outfit.
The final trend for 2020 that I'm really loving is like the square toed mules. They're literally all over Instagram. And you know what, a pair of mules are so standard to have in your wardrobe. I love them. They're super easy to wear. The square toed, they're just coming back with a vengeance. I think that we all had them at one point in time, and if you didn't, now is your chance.

Kim was absolutely a dream to work with. I had to find a dress for a New York red carpet film premiere, and she came to my home with amazing options to get the look perfect. She nailed it, and was so kind and supportive! She really made me feel super confident for such an important event, and took the stress off of me for getting the look together!
It was so great to work with her, and I look forward to the next time :)
